Nouha Dhraief – Interior Designer

Almost two years ago, I stepped into the world of XBD Collective, a design studio that’s become more than just a workplace—it’s a space where creativity thrives, and learning never stops. I still remember the excitement I felt when I first joined, eager to learn from the senior designers and industry leaders around me. Looking back now, it’s amazing how much I’ve grown, not only as a designer but as a professional in this fast-paced, demanding industry.

In a lot of ways, I feel like a "joker" card in a deck—I do a little bit of everything.

My role spans across design, 3D visualisation, and putting together digital presentations for clients. Each day is a blend of creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. I usually juggle around three to four projects at a time, which might sound overwhelming to some, but I’ve learned to thrive on the energy that comes from multitasking and variety.

A typical day starts with reviewing project briefs and getting my hands on mood boards. The initial phase of creating these boards is always exciting, as it’s the first step in turning ideas into reality. I draw inspiration from everywhere—textures, colors, nature, architecture—and begin sketching initial concepts that could align with the client’s vision. Every project feels like a blank canvas, waiting to be filled with creativity, functionality, and style.

Sketching often leads into creating selection boards, where I choose materials, finishes, and furniture that align with the concept. This process can be a puzzle, especially when dealing with budget constraints or specific client requirements, but that’s where the fun comes in—finding the perfect pieces that not only fit but elevate the design.

Presenting the final concept to clients is a thrill in itself. It’s when all the hard work—designing, refining, revising—comes together.

Sometimes they love it at first sight, and other times, there are revisions, but that’s all part of the process. In the end, it's about crafting a space that makes people feel something, whether it's comfort, awe, or inspiration.

One thing I’ve come to appreciate is the importance of continuous learning. XBD Collective values education and interaction, which is why lunch & learn sessions and attending design events are such a key part of our culture. These sessions offer insight into new materials, technologies, and design trends, and provide a platform to interact with fellow designers and industry experts. They’re not just about absorbing information—they’re about connecting with people and staying inspired.

Reflecting on my journey at XBD Collective, I can confidently say that this experience has shaped me into a well-rounded designer. The collaborative spirit, the freedom to explore new ideas, and the constant push to elevate our designs make this place special. I look forward to what the future holds, knowing there’s always more to learn, more to create, and more to discover.
