Olga Myronova-Kopysova – 3D Visualiser

My name is Olga, and I’m proud to be an Interior 3D Artist at XBD Collective, where I focus primarily on creating visuals for residential interior design projects, particularly for high-end spaces like villas and penthouses. Although I only joined the team three months ago, I already feel an incredible sense of belonging here and genuinely love both the company and the people I work alongside. I believe that our 3D Visualiser team is uniquely special. They’re some of the most interesting, helpful, funny, and supportive individuals I’ve had the pleasure of working with, and I feel genuinely lucky to be a part of this talented group.

My typical day begins with a check-in with the senior designers, who brief me on my tasks and projects for the day. I usually juggle elements of 3-4 different projects simultaneously, giving me the opportunity to dive into a variety of designs and approaches each day. As a 3D Artist, I am involved in almost every stage of the creative process. I often build spaces independently or lend a hand to Senior Artists by creating detailed 3D models, refining textures, sourcing precise measurements, applying materials, arranging furniture, and setting up cameras for future shots—amongst a myriad of other tasks. I love the creative freedom and technical challenges of what we do here. Together, we produce photorealistic renders from the ground up, utilising a variety of industry-standard 3D modelling tools and software, including 3Ds Max, AutoCAD, D5, Corona Render, V-Ray, and Adobe Photoshop.

To break it down, we start with simple boxes shaping them into custom pieces of furniture, exquisite art installations, unique lighting features, and all the other details that clients expect.

Once the modelling is complete, we focus on creating the environment, setting up lighting, adjusting colour schemes, positioning cameras, and applying textures, all to achieve the most realistic representation possible.

Typically, I am responsible for one main project, along with additional tasks such as making furniture adjustments or enhancing details during post-production. Our process is highly collaborative; we work closely with the interior designers, who provide mood boards and selection boards approved by the client, ensuring our work aligns perfectly with the client’s vision. We also coordinate with the architecture or draughts team to obtain detailed floor plans, which we use as a foundation to start building walls and populating the space with furniture selections. After completing our renders, we present them to the Senior Interior Designers for feedback and further refinement.

Each render goes through multiple rounds of approval before it reaches the client. Senior Interior Designers, our Design Associates Giulia and Olena, and finally, Ellen, the CEO of XBD Collective, all review our work. This rigorous process often means that we, as 3D Artists, have many adjustments to make after each review to deliver perfection. Occasionally, when timelines are tight, the entire 3D team rallies together on a single project. Each team member takes responsibility for a different room, producing high-quality renders in a short timeframe. In these cases, the Senior Visualisers then combine our individual pieces to create breathtaking animations.

Our team is exceptional at supporting one another, understanding that every member brings unique strengths to the table, which contributes to the quality of our collective work. My favourite part of the process is post-production, where we use Photoshop to achieve the perfect finish. This step allows us to enhance colours, deepen saturation, and bring our images to life with a heightened sense of realism. Every day presents new challenges, keeping me engaged and constantly inspired by the unexpected tasks and opportunities that come my way. Each morning, I look forward to discovering what the day holds, excited to tackle fresh projects and push creative boundaries.
